I was born in 1971 on a dark and stormy night in a small town in Canada. I grew up imagining talking animals, stuffed animals that came alive, and elves living on my bookshelf. Pictures always accompanied my stories (and there were many).

From business logos to comic books, my illustrations tell a story. I use a variety of mediums: Prismacolor art markers, watercolours, acrylic, coloured pencil, and my Mac (I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Painter).

I am a self-taught queer artist and a full-time freelance illustrator since 2001, with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. I have also taught art workshops for children, and Artist-in-Residence programs at Sundance Elementary and Colonel Irving Junior High.
I adore making a living doing what I love (and not having to rush through my morning coffee). Projects I’ve worked on include: teaching materials, comic books, private commissions, window painting, character design, cartoon logo design, fabric design, and product packaging.

My passion project is writing and illustrating children’s books. I have taken several courses through Mira Reisburg’s Children’s Book Academy, and I won first place in CANSCAIP’s Writing for Children Competition 2016 for my middle-grade book “Creep School”.

I live in cowboy country–Calgary, Alberta–with my two awesome teenagers.
Some of my favourite things:

•traveling
•hanging out in cafés
• watching movies (sci-fi/fantasy, period dramas, especially queer versions of both!)
• nature (but not when it crawls on me)
• reading (voraciously)
• drawing/writing about my D&D characters.
