I was born in 1971 on a dark and stormy night in a small town in Canada. I grew up imagining talking animals, stuffed animals that came alive, and elves living on my bookshelf. Pictures always accompanied my stories (and there were many).

From business logos to comic books, my illustrations tell a story. I use a variety of mediums: Prismacolor art markers, watercolours, acrylic, coloured pencil, and my Mac (I use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Painter).

I am a self-taught artist, with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary. Several times a year I travels to anthropomorphic conventions to exhibit my artwork; I was Guest of Honor in 2002 at Conifur Northwest in Seattle, in 2012 at Furnal Equinox in Toronto, and in 2016 at PAWcon in San Jose, CA. My work has appeared in books, educational publications, comics, logos and in private collections internationally. I have also taught art workshops for children, including workshops at Varsity Acres School (2014), and Artist-in-Residence programs at Sundance Elementary (2014) and Colonel Irving Junior High (2016).

Recently I’ve been focusing on my writing. I have taken several courses through Mira Reisburg’s Children’s Book Academy, and I won first place in CANSCAIP’s Writing for Children Competition 2016 for my middle-grade book “Creep School”. I’m a member of SCBWI and the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta, and I read children’s books obsessively.

I live in cowboy country–Calgary, Alberta–with my two awesome kiddos.

I am available for classroom visits, workshops, and artist-in-residence programs (see my Workshops page).
