My mom and dad have a lovely little back yard in their Okanagan Valley home. When we visit in the summer we’re always delighted to harvest their cherry tomatoes and sorrel leaves (which we use in sour leaf soup, a recipe from my Dad’s German mom). The quail take shelter here with their adorable little chicks, and I love listening to their sweet “hoo-HOOO-hoo”. I did this watercolour piece after a summer visit a couple of years ago, to seal the memory.
